Jon Snow urges people to register to vote – while in Iran

Channel 4 News presenter Jon Snow (not to be confused with the fictional Game of Thrones character) has urged people to register to vote, as today is the deadline.

Jon Snow is in Iran, covering their elections. He reminded people that though our (the UK’s) democracy isn’t perfect, the only way to improve it and to have your voice heard by politicians is to vote.

He reminded people how in other nations, democracy isn’t as free and open, and many people have fought and died, and are still fighting, and dying, and being arrested and oppressed in order to have a fairer system.

We at Franglish Politics urge British people to register to vote. You can watch Jon Snow’s full speech here.

You still have time left to register to vote, as you need to register by 11:59 PM TODAY (22nd May). Go to www.gov.uk/register-to-vote – good luck!
